The training session for Sunday, January 2, 2004 was held in the Padnos Boat Shed. Dave Mullen from Salem Massachusetts spoke before the ship's company. David's specialty is rigging and he shared his experience of tall ships and traditional vessels, entertaining the crew with some of his past experiences.

At the conclusion of the meeting, one of the ship's company brought out his banjo, with several more joining him in singing sea chanteys.
